UU stories about Tennessee shootings feature history, future

The Unitarian Universalist Church issued this press release regarding the denominations plans for a rededication of the Knoxville congregation following the July 27 shooting in the church building that killed two and injured others.

I found it interesting that the release focused on a history of violence against the denomination and the response of congregations, but not on the letter that shooter Jim David Adkisson wrote, claiming his actions were against the "liberal" beliefs of the congregation.

Baptist press publishes Prestonwood story

The Associated Baptist Press, sort of an AP for baptist publications, has published this story about the sex abuse arrest of a pastor at a 26,000-member Baptist church.

The article, more detailed than the one published in the mainstream media, notes that "Accounts of sex abuse of minors and adults by Southern Baptist clergy have made national headlines in recent years, sparking widespread calls for reform -- so far unanswered."
