PC(USA) debates gay clergy

The Presbyterian Church (USA) is considering dropping a statement in the church's constitution that states that clergy are expected to either be faithfully married to someone of the opposite sex or single and celibate. The church's general assembly voted by a slim majority on Friday to make the change, also allowing ordination candidates to conscientiously object to the existing language - a move that could allow local church councils to suspend it.

An Associated Press article found here states that a majority of presbyteries would have to approve the change for it be allowed.
