Church-state issues mark story on Dalai Lama visit

This story from the AP mentions a positive-in-tone speech given by the Dalai Lama at a conference on compassion held in Seattle.

The issue of Chinese treatment of Tibet in recent weeks was not discussed, as the leader focused on national autonomy instead.

It is interesting that the conference materials have spiritual content, but the story treats the Dalai Lama as a political leader for the most part.
