Religion angle still in the news with Tibet protest stories

Tibet monks disrupt tour by journalists is the headline on a AP article found on Newsweek's web site today that describes emotional monks as screaming and weeping over the state of religious freedom in the area.

A forthcoming article, available now on the web, describes the "next saffron revolution," referring to the color of robes worn by Tibetan Buddhist monks.

In discussing this issue with my students, I have had to be careful to explain the dual nature of the Dalai Lama as both a political and a religious leader.
