Muhammad images again problematic, Times reports

Keeping with the Wikipedia theme for today, there has been protest over images of Muhammad that appear in the encylopedia's article about the prophet

The New York Times reports that more than 80,000 signatures, many of them labeled anonymous, have been submitted to the on-line encyclopedia's owners, who have refused to remove the images.

This is somewhat similar to the protests over depictions of Muslims in a cartoon.

It will be interesting to see if The Times' coverage will publicize the issue and inflame controversy. Interestingly, the Times chose to not run the images or even to link to Wikipedia's article.
