Free speech vs. religion in the big house

The New York Times is reporting today that prison chaplains have been ordered to remove religious materials from prison libraries because of concerns that library content might be used to encourage religous extremism that could lead to terrorism. What do you think?

The list of banned books is really interesting because many of them are theological, but could hardly be construed as extremist, such as Reinhold Niebuhr. I also found it interesting that this story was at least briefly yesterday the nytimes.com No. 1 e-mailed story.
